Update from Rebecca/mommy
Update from Rebecca/Mommy
"UPDATE: Lyllah's blood counts are all back to normal. Her ANC is a whopping 1690. She is off fluids during the day from 9 to 9 and she is allowed out in public without a mask. Oh and of course the best news is we're out of here on Thursday!
What's Happening Now
Today, Delilah walked to the cafeteria, without a mask and without fluids, for the FIRST time in 30 days!
Delilah is currently suffering from "chemo brain"- meaning she is off-balance and dizzy. The doctors say that this will eventually go away when the chemo ends.
Looking Ahead
Once a week, for the entire month of May, Delilah will undergo a Spinal Tap and bone marrow tests at Children's Hospital.
Delilah will have her PICC line removed and a port installed beneath her skin. It will be critical that her environment be and remain sterile. Michael and Rebecca (mom and dad) have been informed that Delilah may temporarily require a feeding tube when she goes home. They say this is very common. We would love for her to use Liquid Hope (organic whole foods meal replacement) - we are sorting out the insurance information right now.

This just breaks my heart. She (Delilah - my 3yr old granddaughter) is afraid of losing her hair and the time has come now. I know Becca's (her mom) heart is breaking. We all cry for this beautiful, innocent child.

Happy Easter (and update)
and blessings on you and yours.
Delilah had a rough day yesterday. She slept most of the day because she wasn't feeling so well. My daughter called me last night for a few minutes and she was so stressed out. I told her she must take care of herself so she can take care of her baby and forget everything else.
From our family to yours: thank you so very, very much for the cards, letters and gifts for Delilah. We would like to thank you all personally but there was so much response to this we just can't possibly do it. We just want you to know how precious each delivery was - more than words can express.
God Bless you and yours,
Cathryn

Granddaughter's status update
My granddaughter received an extensive chemo treatment by IV on Monday. She did well but is grumpy (poor baby doll). She still has appetite problems. We are all stressed, but definitely see God working in our lives and answering prayers. At the end of the 3 week period docs will do more testing to see if leukemia is responding to treatment. Depends on the outcome of those tests where granddaughters treatment will go from there.
Please keep us all in your prayers. It is SO much appreciated.

Update on my Granddaughter and family
Hi all,
My granddaughter still has no appetite and they are trying to tempt her with anything and everything. Doctor wrote Pediasure on the chart for her. My daughter and son-in-law went home to get fresh clothes and their other daughter had a fever so they had to stay away from her which hurt everyone. Can't afford to give anything to the child in the hospital.
My daughter who is insulin dependent diabetic is understandably under a great deal of stress which affects her blood sugars. The readings are all over the place and she is doing her best to take care of herself as well as her 'baby' (in the hospital).
My son-in-law hasn't been working for the past week. When he doesn't work, he doesn't get paid. That puts everyone under stress too. He's going back to work next week which will be stressful for him (away from my granddaughter) and stressful for my daughter (without his presence and support).
Your prayers and cards are SO appreciated by ALL of us.
thank you,
Cathryn
