What an ER couple of days!
Delilah was finally released from the hospital with better blood counts and no fever. Her sister Destiny, however, went to the ER and they found she had a fractured wrist. They put a splint on it and she is due to see a bone specialist for a cast. What a stressful few days for my youngest daughter and her family.
Prayers and positive thoughts are much appreciated!

Granddaughter still in Hospital
Update from mom:
Numbers are going in the wrong direction. Her ANC is now down to 20. So that's another day, stuck here. Lyllah's very crabby and demanding but I can't say I wouldn't be the same way if I were her. It's just no fun being here.
The other night we got some face time in with our family and Lyllah heard her sister, Destiny, saying hi and Lyllah smiled and went, "Awe!" She misses playing with her brother and sister.
Well, here's to praying for better numbers tomorrow!

Granddaughter in hospital
Posting from her mother:
2/6
So we were back in the ER last night. This time Lyllah had a fever of 102.2. With her ANC so low that's an automatic 48 hour stay. Just now waking up from a long night of throwing up, crying and sleeplessness. Good news is the fever's gone. Delilah's going to get some blood today to bring her hemoglobin up and help her feel better. Hopefully her ANC will continue an upward trend. We need her to be fever-free for 24 hours, antibiotics for 48 hours and her ANC above 200 to go home. Praying to be home Sunday evening.
2/8
So the numbers are in:
ANC is 80 so we're staying overnight again.Hemoglobin is up to 11.3 and Delilah is in a better mood (Except it's hard to wait for pancakes). And as for Mom and Dad, we're exhausted, as usual. Money and food are tight right now so if anyone's looking to help, a good, home-cooked meal for Delilah's siblings, Dominic and Destiny, and their grandparents, Sharon and Mike, would be greatly appreciated. You may also contact Best Upon Request at 513-803-4871 or concierge@cchmc.org to purchase meal cards for us at the hospital. We're in A South, room 5-42. Hopefully our stay won't be a long one but we never know. It's a day by day process. We'll keep you updated as we get info. Thank you all for your prayers and positive thoughts!

Granddaughter Update from her mother
Good morning folks!
Delilah had a home care visit last night in preparation of her appointment today and bloodwork came back really low. ANC was 10 and needs to be at least 500 to be out in public safely so her immune system is compromised right now. Along with that, her hemoglobin has dropped to 8.4 so the doctors may consider giving her blood today. Delilah's platelets have also dropped to only 37,000 as opposed to the hundreds of thousands it should be so she's also at risk of bleeding a lot if she gets a scrape or cut. With all this being said, this is not surpirsing due to the oral chemo she's been on and this just means that doses need to be adjusted. Headed down to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center for her appointment now and will update everyone as we can.

All went well at the clinic visit today. Vincristine is in the steroids this week but no oral chemo. The doc says the steroids should bump up her numbers Home Care visit in 2 weeks to check blood counts. At home and exhausted, poor thing, but otherwise ok.

I know, I know
Another month gone by, but I missed 2 weeks of the last one with a very bad cold - given lovingly to me by my grandchildren? ;) I'm barely out of the fog and my latest newsletter (that just went out a couple of days ago) proves that. I sound like I'm in a fog.
Anyhoo, there's a cute free February Doodle in it. :) See my website on how to sign up for the newsletter.
Have a terrific day!
